I'm Maria Pavelock and I ask for your VOTE.
Nobody wakes up one morning and suddenly decides to run for public office. I was born into a world of political conflict. When I was seven years old I had to raise my baby brother because my father was imprisoned by Communists for selling twine to family farmers. As a college student, I joined the Solidarity movement to free Poland. Throughout my life I have fought many battles for the betterment of the community.
I came to the United States on Independence Day, the 4th of July 1979 and began to live my American Dream. New York State has been my home for the last 30 years. This is where I raised my three children, became a teacher, helped to build a small business. As a translator, I helped countries in Eastern Europe adapt to free markets and a globalized economy.
Working with many community groups, I founded a volunteer integrated literacy program called "It's a Zoo!" Theater Competition that involved schools K-8 in the Utica, Rome, and Syracuse area.
We can't afford to watch the same people recycling old politics. Today Albany doesn't reflect any of us, not you, not me. It won't change until we change the people in Albany. Working together we can get our state back on track.
